In this condition the normal bone tissue ids replaced with fibrous tissue. The cause is still unknown. The affected bone becomes weak and prone for easy fracture. There are two type of fibrous dysplasia which are namely 1. Monostotic variety – where only one bone is involved and 2. Polyostotic variety- where multiple bones are involved.
Treatment are based on size and place of occurrence of the lesion. Most of the lesion does not requires surgery. Surgical indications are excess increase in size, pathological fracture and lesion in weight bearing areas of the body.
