Dr. Abhishek Nandi, is one of the very few Pediatric Orthopedic and Pediatric Musculoskeletal tumor surgeon practicing in Kolkata. He received his ‘Bachelor’s in medicine and Bachelor’s in Surgery (M.B.B.S.)’ degree from Medical College, Kolkata which is the oldest medical college in Asia. His interest in Orthopedics grew from his internship days in Medical College, Kolkata. He proceeded with his interest and went ahead to do his Post-graduate degree ‘Master’s in Surgery (MS)’ in Orthopedic Surgery from the prestigious and one of the institutes of national importance under Government of India, Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry. He returned back to Kolkata for his Orthopedic registrar-ship in Apollo Gleneagles Hospital, Kolkata. During this time, he noticed the lack of medical expertise in the field of Pediatric Orthopedic and bone tumors. In an attempt to fill this gap, he went ahead in his surgical training and completed two years of advanced long-term Fellowship in Pediatric Orthopedics from one the most respected and best Medical College of India, Christian Medical College, Vellore. After the completion of his advanced surgical training, he was awarded a ‘Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Pediatric Orthopedics’ under Dr. MGR University, Tamil Nadu. He is also certified in Advance Trauma Life Support by American College Surgeon, Basic and Pediatric Advance Life Support by Indian Association of Pediatrics. To further enhance his skill in the field of bone tumors, he completed his ‘Fellowship in Musculoskeletal Tumor’ under aegis West Bengal Orthopaedic Association.
