WHAT IS DENTAL CROWN OR TOOTH CAP?

It is tooth shaped covering cemented to the tooth for the purpose of restoring the tooth to its original shape and function.

Why crowns are necessary?

It is recommended after pulpectomy procedure and in cases of decayed tooth which have become weak and cannot hold large fillings in position.

Types —-

Pre – formed metal crowns – requires less tooth preparation. Preferable for baby molar tooth. Also known as Stainless steel crowns.
